Insomnity is a site created for the purpose of sharing knowledge, its contents are vary from technological and geek-savvy stuff to a basic and common thoughts about things. It covers open source, programming, security, and design material in short. For the complex list, it covers (x)HTML, HTML5, CSS, PHP, JS, AJAX, WordPress, GNU/Linux, C++, VB.Net, Java, Hardware, GIMP, Inkscapes, Photoshop, Exploits, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. (whatever fits the mood and skill of the writer, of course). And this, is a long – boring – selfish page, about us.
The Name
Insomnity, it was started as community of a few people walking the path of knowledge-sharing. Insomnity was taken after the words Insomnia and Creativity, which most of its member have a slight sleeping disorder syndrome, we exaggerate it a little, the truth is just we stayed up late – too late its close to morning – and we sleep less. Two or three hours a day are just fine for us. Back then. 
The Philosophy
Simply Creative, I believe that creativity is a process, a things that comes out of ordinary common things but then produce stunning effects and spectacular outcomes by the end of its process. Its not necessarily needs to be catchy, and its not necessarily needs to amaze everyone, if its just for a few smile to raise, or a few mind to satisfy, then we win the battle. Insomnity is here for a purpose, and sharing knowledge is its main purpose.
The History
Started as private group called Pointseven back then at 2002, with only 7 member. After a few of consideration, internal conflict, members in and out, Pointseven then rebuilt as a group with more member at 2005 under the name of Insomnity.
Within the new philosophy, Sleepless mind, empty heart representing that all the members will keep an open mind to learn, share, and receive knowledge one each others. Creativity on positivity means that we keep on the right line and trying to do as much as creative collaboration under a positive way, this is due to a trends of underground community (or scriptkiddies*cought*) back in the days which caused defacing and all negative stuff (Its not that there are none nowadays, but they are more secretive nowadays, which is a good manner, imho). These philosophy then later reformed to Creativity never sleeps. Which represents both quotes before.
Most members are teenagers ranged from Junior Highschool to College Student. We encourage all our member to stay away from negative nor crime matters as porn, drugs, and another thing against the law. We try to open their mind and show them that they are not alone, they are creative, unique and that there are a lot of positive thing they could do for their future. Around that time, our interests were mostly pop-culture and visual creativity, like music collaboration, digital design, animation, indie and such. Only a few have interests on geek world.
The site was built up as forum, using SMF and later switched to MyBB before its finally shut down later by the end of year 2006 due to its inactivity.
The recent Insomnity, the philosophy remains, the community parts are stripped off. As the members got involved in their own real life issues, they resigned themselves one by one. What is left is me, the owner, as well as the one gave birth to Insomnity. In the time of Insomnity vacuum hibernation, I learned a lot of things and prepare a lot of things to rebuilt Insomnity, and here we are.
The Change of Heart
I stripped out the forum as I won’t create articles to be contributed on such style anymore, instead, I use WordPress to best represent my idea of sharing knowledge. If there is in need of discussion, then we can comment an article because of that very purposes. This won’t eliminate the chances of others who want to join and contribute to the Insomnity, just mail me and we can talk in the back
